With the unanimously praised debut ‘ONE MAN BLUES’ and the equally successful second album ‘TLT’, Tiny Legs Tim earned his position as a new leader in the Belgian blues and roots scene. At the end of February 2015, his 3rd full album ‘STEPPING UP’ will appear.
Tiny Legs Tim proves that contemporary blues can be a lot more than ruminating the past. He developed quickly a very personal style and content wise, he transcends effortlessly all clichés. This lifelike, original blues is based on a true “crossroads” story that reads like a medical thriller. The name Tiny Legs Tim is a wink to his frail stature and skinny legs: a consequence of many chirurgical operations and his long struggle for life.”
‘I live in the heart of the city, but I used to be a country man’ The pickup line of Stepping Up immediately puts the listener on the right track. Where the previous albums conveyed the atmosphere of the acoustic delta blues, the new album is penetrated by an urban Rhythm & Blues sound with influences of Swamp, Boogie and New Orleans
For Tiny Legs Tim, the Blues is a philosophy, a life vision and especially a purifying force. In the new album, this positive and relativistic force prevails again. The 10 original songs with respect for the blues tradition radiate a regained belief in life and love.
On ‘STEPPING UP’, Tiny Legs Tim is assisted by Frederik Van den Berghe (Arno, Trixie Whitley) on the drums, René Stock (Electric Kings) on the bass and Steven Troch on the harmonica (Fried Bourbon, King of Swing 2011). With the recordings, Tim chose resolutely for a live approach to maintain the organic and authentic sound, which is so characteristic for the concerts of Tiny Legs Tim.
